Handshake

Handshake is a multifaceted online career platform for college students to connect with employers and find jobs, internships, and opportunities worldwide. It also serves as an online recruiting platform for employers looking for the best talent in higher education. Employers partner with universities and Handshake to streamline and simplify the recruiting process. Handshake came to Manual for an identity to better reflect today's college students' vibrancy, creativity, and drive.

DESIGNED AT MANUAL (2022)

LOGO CONCEPT

During our creative strategy sessions, one theme we honed in on was the notion of “leveling up.” The type of students who get the most out of Handshake are always pushing themselves to learn new skills and constantly looking to elevate their game. We designed the Handshake logomark to convey a sense of upward trajectory.

DESIGN SYSTEM

The design system utilizes a series of dynamic gestures and graphic devices meant to convey a sense of carving your own space, making your mark and . The typographic language hinges on the beautiful headline typeface Sans Plomb by Lift Type Co.

DESIGN SYSTEM

We explored how the new Handshake design system could be deployed in the current app and designed a robust set of presentation templates for the internal sales and education teams to utilize. We also designed a series of sub-brand logo treatments for both external and internal applications.

ICONOGRAPHY

For the iconography language, we took inspiration from our headline typography and created a grid system and graphic principles that mimic the lovely counters present in Sans Plomb.
